TOGETHER IS BETTER

Romans 15:1 says, “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”  In the animal kingdom, we see that lions prey on wildebeest.  They generally focus on the ones that are either sickly or stray away from the group.  As the prey becomes more compromised, the lion leaps out of the bushes and attacks the wildebeest with a ferocious appetite.  Had they stayed with the group, they would possibly have survived.  In this life we all encounter someome who needs our support.  Perhaps they need our word of encouragement or our comforting presence.  There are times when we need someone’s shoulder to cry on, or a listening ear.  It is better for us to be together than to be alone.  Unity brings strength!

Have you ever heard the saying, “There is strength in numbers?”  Our adversary, the devil, has a hard time penetrating our hearts and minds when there is a community of love and support.  The community could be our homes, jobs, extended family and friends.  Whatever our “communities” or atmostpheres are, we must remember that we all need each other.  We need to pray one for the other; show love to each other and lend a helping hand to each other.

Try these actions:

1) Make sure our spouses know that we love and appreciate them.  2) Nurture our children emotionally, mentally and spiritually, instead of just disciplining them.  3) Smile at a stranger.  4) Spend time with an elderly person or visit the home of the sick.

Again, together is better.  We all must bear one another’s burdens.  As Jesus bore the cross, so we all must bear our own cross.  We show the world that Christians have the best way, not just the better way.  Through unity, we gain strength and are empowered to go forward in our walk with Christ!
